Red Hot Rhythm and Blues! Scintillating Ska and Bluebeat! Sensational Soul! Ricky Cool and the In Crowd return to The Old Court to serve up a gorgeous gumbo of sounds, similar to those found in the clubs of Soho in the early years of Mod mania. Original numbers are mixed in with great arrangements of classics to give you a musical mix that will have your feet itching to dance.
Many will remember Ricky Cool fronting one of Birmingham’s most popular combos, the legendary Ricky Cool and the Icebergs. Ricky has toured with the likes of Billy Connolly, shared a stage with George Harrison and played alongside Robert Plant. He is recognised as one of the most entertaining front men in the business.
The band members are all top class musicians with excellent pedigrees, who have worked with artists including Ruby Turner, The Beat, Alexis Korner, X Ray Spex and Fine Young Cannibals.
As Ricky says, “The music we play is timeless and our show is enjoyed by young and old alike. The enjoyment we have on stage rubs off on our audience and a great time is had by one and all.”
Supported by Singer/Songwriter Paddy James
Paddy James makes eloquent folk, pop & rock recounting the mischief and melancholy of everyday life. Born in Solihull, West Midlands, he began his musical journey learning the drums at young age after a fleeting attempt at conquering the guitar. It wasn’t until his mid to late teens he finally decided to revisit his six stringed nemesis. His encounters studying for a degree gifted him with the substance to develop his songwriting and performance skills, this coupled with a constant gigging regime and a growing live reputation landed him support slots for the likes of Ed Sheeran and the Hoosiers.
In November 2016, James self-released his debut four track EP, Lost Boy on his own SOAC Records which landed in the Top 5 of the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Chart. For winter 2017/18 Paddy embarked on a 100+ show tour throughout the French alps along side the release of his latest single 'Perfectly Flawed'. The remainder of 2018 sees a further handful of single releases and shows throughout the UK.
