Second in a series of monthly concerts presented by Live Music Now: Trio Simbora
Playing a selection of instrumental Brazilian music from all over the country, ranging from traditional and modern Choros to Samba, Bossa Nova and Baião from the northeast of Brazil. They will play repertoire from composers such as Pixinguinha and Jacob do Bandolim, both composers of Choro who revolutionised the genre, bringing in elements of ragtime and jazz, as well as Bossa Nova and Sambas by the legendary Tom Jobim. A few marriage references - there is a tune called O Cassmento da Raposa - the fox’s wedding - plus a Choro called Na Gloria which has a quotation of the Wedding March in the middle. http://www.livemusicnow.org.uk/
Live Music Now is a UK-wide initiative, created by Yehudi Menuhin in 1977, supporting exceptional musicians at the start of their careers. Every year, our musicians deliver thousands of interactive music programmes in care homes and hospitals, and a range of community and healthcare settings. Our musicians are trained to put participants' needs and responses at the heart of everything they do. Working with LMN gives our musicians the ability to perform with a deeper level of engagement throughout their careers.
